This web page lists the various major science tests that have been performed or are planned for evaluation of the operational NPP algorithms using on-orbit VIIRS data. Three types of science tests are performed at Land PEATE

• Integration Test of IDPS OPS Algorithms (OPS: Mx versions): Every Algorithm versions put into operation at IDPS are integrated and baselined for operation at Land PEATE are tested through a science test generating global data before put into operation at Land PEATE in AS 3001. Test results are verified to confirm that Land PEATE can reproduce IDPS results.
• Testing of Improvement to IDPS algorithms (LPA): IDPS Algorithm with changes implementing NASA science teams recommendations are tested and results verified through science tests generating dataset covering sufficiently large spatial and temporal extent. These algorithms (Land PEATE Adjusted) after verification and approval are put into operation in AS 3002.
• Testing Science Team Algorithms (SCI): New science algorithm developed by NASA science team to generate improved products or new products are tested and verified. These algorithms after approval could be put into production in AS 3001 or 3002.

The following table identifies the various major science tests that have been performed or are planned as part of the evaluation of the NPP algorithms post-launch. Additional information such as individual test objective, the PGE Versions used can be obtained for the major tests that have been completed or are in progress by clicking on the Test name. The products from these science tests are made available to the NPP land science teams and LDOPE through a password protected ftp site lpeate.nascom.nasa.gov.
